Finance Study Group

Finance Study Group is a Facebook-based online study group for the aspiring Investment Banking Analyst or Financial Data Scientist.

The group addresses the overlap between Finance and Data Science with the use of Python and R to support Excel-based analyses in corporate- and equities valuation.

​

Having evolved from interests in financial modeling and valuation, given the fact that valuation is one of the primary skills required of IB and private equity analysts, the group is one of my main projects in finance, and has been a platform for development for myself and a core group of students, professionals, and early-career analysts in IB.

 

Recent projects include:

1. Comprehensive valuation of Eastman Chemical Company.

2. Beta calculator, built in the R programming language, for use in determining price sensitivity of various assets with respect to measures of the overall market.

3. Python-based webscraper for collecting index-, stock-, and yield data currently unavailable in R.

​

4. Our current project has been analysis of the CVS / Aetna merger, projected to close mid-year 2018.
